Will. Grace. Karen. Jack.

Who else watched and loved the return of Will & Grace last night? OMG! They are baaaaack for sure!

The episode poked some silly fun at the White House. I have seen some negative comments on facebook that it was over-the-top political, but come on folks, Will & Grace has always been quite humorously topical. And don't we all need a little humor in our lives these days?

My favorite quote by Karen: "What's with the Laura Bush pour? Give me the full Pat Nixon!!!!!"

This is certainly not a political blog. I have a sense of humor and can see both sides clearly.

#tbt {Fall in the ATL}

Oh! How I miss the Fall season in Atlanta. It is 92 degrees here in NOLA and the humidity is so high.
This post first appeared on Uptown Acorn on November 2012.

#tbt

Every year in Atlanta, J & I would host “Happy Fall Y’all”, our annual Fall soiree. I do miss those days. Atlanta actually had Fall temperatures for an extended period. The changing of the leaves and cooler temperatures excited my senses.

Today, I am looking back at my Atlanta Fall decor, and my Fall parties. I do love New Orleans, but I will always cherish the memories of my Atlanta Fall decor and celebrations.

Grab your cup of coffee and reminisce with me as I look back at Fall in the ATL and my home, Wisteria Hill.

Let the Light In {Sofa Table}

I am preparing to start my Halloween decor as next week is my Fall Break. The bins are down from the loft, and I am ready to do a little day by day. While I wait for October, I am rearranging accents around the house.

On the sofa table in the den, I am continuing to use my vintage lamps and green demijohn. I love how the sun reflects off of the demijohn. A stag head ceramic urn holds a green glass float, and two large antlers complete the vignette.

It is always fun to reorganize and redo various vignettes with the change of seasons.

Must See TV {The Sinner}

J and I have been watching USA Network's, The Sinner, and we have been hooked. The drama is so good and suspenseful. Tonight is the season finale, and I cannot wait.

Young mother Cora Tannetti is overcome by an inexplicable fit of rage that leads her to commit a startling -- and very public -- act of violence, with no explanation as to why she did it. When Detective Harry Ambrose begins his investigation and grows obsessed with uncovering Cora's hidden motive, the two work together to try to get deep into her psyche to learn about the violent secrets that are hidden in her past. The eight-episode thriller -- which tries to uncover the "why" instead of the "who" or "what" -- stars Jessica Biel, who also serves as an executive producer, and Bill Pullman in the lead roles.

If you have not seen the series, find it! You will not be disappointed.

Oakleaves, Staghorn fern, Branches!

I recently sent a bunch of branches, ferns, feathers, and curiosities to my friends at Mitch's Flowers to create a Halloween/Fall arrangement for the center stair parlor table. I love the addition of the crows and spiders which can be removed easily after Halloween. The container was purchased from Hazelnut and is a tortoise-style vase.

I do decorate for Halloween, but I do enjoy a classier version. Of course, I plan to add crows and bats to the chandelier during October.

Let the Halloween/Fall decorating commence! I hope to start the decor this coming weekend. I only wish the temperatures would cooperate, but I do not see improvement in the near future.

Ready for Halloween/Fall, y'all!

A Place to Call Home

I'm loving the new book by James Farmer, A Place to Call Home: Timeless Southern Charm. I have loved his style for a long time, and I am a fan of his home, Farmdale in southern Georgia.

From Google:
Combining the rich traditions of the past with the sensibilities of contemporary life, interior and garden designer James Farmer of Perry, Georgia, is unapologetically Southern.

Tour eleven diverse homes in the deep South—makeovers, remodels, and new construction—as James Farmer brings together a cultivated mix of high and low, storied and new, collected and found; presenting them all as a thoughtfully exhibited array of taste, style, good architecture, and interior comfort. Woven alongside beautiful photography are personal stories James shares about living in the South, the people in his life, and how he fell in love with a career of making houses into homes.

A beautiful book to inspire Southern style at home—infusing the new with antique, vintage, and heirloom pieces.

James Farmer is of the author of A Time to Plant, A Time to Cook, A Time to Celebrate, Porch Living, and Dinner on the Grounds. His company, James Farmer Inc, is a full-service design company, including interiors and landscape. He lives in Perry, GA.

I cannot wait to delve into the book more this week.

Bevolo-style Gas Lanterns

Oh! How I wish we had gas lanterns on our porch on Perrier Street! They scream Southern to me. But, I guess I do have the next best thing, Bevolo-styled gas lanterns by the uber-talented Cynthia Kolls.

I purchased these two at Bevolo on Royal Street two years ago. I love to use them between seasons. They always seem to bring us the biggest compliments.

Remembering September 11...

The minute I wrote the date 9/11 on the board this morning, I was immediately transported back to that very day.

I was living in Atlanta and working at Jeff's real estate office answering phones (NOT in my "office voice), making copies, and performing menial tasks. The TV was on in the conference room, and everyone was huddled around it for most of the day. I remember being sent home early and all I did that day was watch the news. I was glued to the TV in disbelief.

Where were you on September 11, 2001?

Prayers for all affected by the events of 9/11.

Prayers for all affected by Hurricane Irma. She's (was) a monster!

Scentsational Scoop {Baobab candle}

I love a great candle, and this is a good one. Housed in a beautiful, decorative glass jar, Baobab candles are works of art as well as "scentsational".

The inspiration:

"Baobab Collection first saw the light of day in 2002, in the enchanting landscape of Tanzania, a country rich in intense colors and bewitching perfumes. The collections are inspired by faraway spaces and wild nature but it is in Belgium that the new creations are dreamed up."

J & I purchased the Manhattan candle from Sotre on Magazine Street this summer. It was placed on the mantle and remains there today.

"Celebrate one of the world’s most iconic cities with this Manhattan scented candle from Baobab. Presented in a clear glass vessel, this candle is adorned with a shimmering silver metallic fretwork design inspired by the breathtaking Chrysler building in New York. Handmade and hand poured, it has notes of rich musk, lily of the valley and pine tree to infuse any room with the intoxicating perfume of the city."
