Merry, Merry! {Acorn Cottage: The Kitchen}

 Christmas decorating continues with a visit to our kitchen. There is not much, but I do have a few touches here and there. My favorite tinsel tree filled with food-related ornaments including my favorite snacks, Reese's peanut butter cups and Cheese-Its.

Santa with his coffee sits near the coffee maker, and a forest of oyster shell trees fills a corner.

I placed a magnolia leaf garland on the built-in and used it to pin our collection of this year's Christmas cards.

A view of our den area...

It's Christmas Time {Acorn Cottage: Kitchen}

 It's Christmas time, so there are even a few touches of Christmas in the kitchen.

From Our Home to Yours {Christmas: Kitchen}

At Christmas, even the kitchen gets some red and green love.

Santa holding a cup of java, glittered balls in bowls and decanters, and cookies in a cake plate, all signal that the Christmas season is alive and well at Acorn Cottage.

I have also used another silvered tinsel tree in the kitchen to house my ever-growing collection of food-inspired ornaments --- deviled eggs, cookies, hamburgers, a New Orleans poboy, sushi, pies, and more.

Oh My Gourd! {Halloween: Kitchen}

Oh my gourd, there are even bootiful decorations in the kitchen.

Glittered pumpkins and gourds fill a wonderful serving bowl.

A pumpkin-shaped Le Creuset cocoette sits on the stove. I envision a delicious autumn soup for the cooler weather.

Agnes flies in the window between the kitchen and the den. Welcome to the Acorn Cottage, Agnes. Fly High! And our empty candy bowl is set on the ledge waiting to be filled with candy for trick-or-treaters.

The Acorn Cottage {Before and After: Kitchen}

The kitchen is a small room but received lots of TLC during the remodel. The appliances, backsplash, and countertops were changed, added, or replaced. The cabinets were in good condition, so we decided to keep them and had them repainted in glossy BM Chelsea Gray.

The kitchen in May of 2018:

And the kitchen today:

The addition of updated accessories and linens helps to bring the kitchen into the 21st century.

I also love the character of the built-in hutch just outside the kitchen. It is perfect for glassware and storage of dishes and other important entertaining staples.

The Acorn Cottage {Kitchen Backsplash}

I was so surprised when I went check on the house this evening, for the backsplash installation in the kitchen had begun. I fell in love with the backsplash way back in May, and my ideas are finally coming full circle. Isn't it amazing how a backsplash dresses up the kitchen and completes the entire picture?

The smaller bath is coming along also.

The progress continues...

The Acorn Cottage {Countertops}

There was more progress at the Acorn Cottage this week with the installation of the quartz countertops in the kitchen.

We chose the eternal Calcutta quartz by Silestone. The lightness of the countertops really brightens up the small kitchen. I am happy with how this turned out.

The Acorn Cottage {Front Hardie Plank and other updates}

It is nice to see the Hardie plank going up on the outside of the front of the house. I cannot wait until it is finished and painted.

The kitchen light fixture has also been installed. This fixture is the Piedmont 4-light lantern from Ballard Designs.

Tiling in the baths is also on-going.

Progress.... slow and steady wins the race. Right?

Updates, y'all!
